Za pocz¹tek techno uwa¿a siê za³o¿on¹ w 1984 przez grupê kilkunastoletnich, g³ównie czarnoskórych DJ-ów, ucz¹cych siê w œrednich szko³ach w Detroit, polow¹, nielegaln¹ dyskotekê, pod namiotem, o nazwie "Techno City".
